Izzie Colpitts-Campbell

Izzie Colpitts-Campbell is a software and electronic artist whose work focuses on, wearable art, leatherwork and computational fashion. Her work centres queer design methodologies and speculative futures with a critical lens to how we create the world around us.

She’s been exhibiting her work since 2008, including as part of Making Patterns an exhibit at Eyebeam in New York. She is the co-author of a paper that was part of TEI’15 Ninth International Conference on Tangible, Embedded, and Embodied Interaction at Stanford University. She has given talks internationally on wearable tech, VR, tech-art, alternative education, community development and the points at which all these things intersect.

Izzie’s creative praxis centres creating space to share and critically engage with technology, which is crucial to her own practice and that of her community. They are a founding organizer of the game-art conference Damage Camp as well as Damage Lab, a incubator to develop social impact games studios.

Their personal practice engages how we can create queer experiences with and around technology, through web and wearable tech. Her community practice centers creating space both in persona and digital to share, organize and critically engage with technology particularly within queer arts communities. They has particular interest in how platforms can be developed to support sustainable self-governed communities. She is currently working on her MA in Fashion Studios are TMU looking at building queer design methods for the body.

Maxwell Lander

Maxwell Lander (he/they) is a gamemaker, photographer and interactive media artist. They have been winning awards and exhibiting internationally since 2007 and, after publishing a book of photography exploring queerness and sci-fi aesthetics in 2016, they delved into game design, interactive media and immersive technology.

In May of 2019, they completed a Master of Design in the Digital Futures program at OCAD University, where Maxwell explored technology’s engagement with the body through custom controller design and the use of VR tech outside of the headset.

Passionate about empowering other queer + trans creators, Maxwell now teaches VR, game design and volumetric video in and outside of established educational institutions.

They were lead-developer on Night of the Living Dead VR, an immersive homage to the classic film and have exhibited as a part of the Gladstone Hotel’s annual design exhibition, Come Up To My Room. Most recently, they have released several tabletop roleplaying games including one of Gizmodo’s best RPGs of 2022, Himbos of Myth & Mettle, and working in the creative space between analog and digital games.
